Mine is made by Motorola and it was installed by Cox cable. There is a small charge for the NIC, but I bought and installed mine by myself so I saved on this charge. If you are in the field, you can buy a reasonable 10/100 NIC for about $15-20. Cox charges $50 if I am not wrong. Hope this helps and jump into it, forget about over analyzing. It is a great service if you use the Internet!
