OK... Jokke spoke to international investors and the response looks good. He didn't say anything substantial, though. And he reiterated that damned 25-35% growth target. Nokia refuses to tip its hand about new models. At least one surprise intro for first half of 1999 seems ensured, though... designed to deflect some of the attention from V series and Ericsson spring attack. It just might start with a 7 and you heard it here first!

Minor controversy in Finland - is Nokia *still* facing shortages in popular 5110 and 6110 models during December or not? Major retailer Radiolinja making dark predictions, Nokia firmly squashing any speculation. Taken together with the Vodaphone warnings, AT&T's persistent backlogs and Hong Kong/Singapore black market prices for 8810 it seems that global handset market might be surprisingly tight during the fourth quarter. Nokia's massive production ramp-ups were supposed to dispell any shortages. The phone sales growth might top 120% during 4Q if the projections are still being beaten. No price cuts in Nokia's lead models - this is the flattest pricing curve I've seen during this decade.
