Here's a funny (sad) one...

Some poor bastards lost alot of cash this morning when they bought OTC:BB Temco (TMCO), thinking they were buying TicketMaster/CitySearch (TMCS), which still hasn't launched their IPO.

Many of the media outlets screwed up and said the symbol for TicketMaster would be TMCO. TMCO's hit a new all time high of $65, before people realized what it was. Its 52 week trading range had been $20-29. Its now at $32. I wouldn't be surprised to see it soar again when the IPO begins, since so many media outlets got the ticker symbol wrong. Check it out on YHOO for a good laugh. I actually noticed this when I used my phone in RTQ service to make sure TMCO wasn't the symbol. When I heard the trading range, I had to check it on the web.

More proof that one IS born every second. Imagine putting in your TMCO order for 1,000 shares at $65, then dropping 50%, losing >$30,000. It's sad, but what can you do.

BTW - BANY RTQ .80 x .81 78,600 - light trading, good that we're holding our own, but looks like its still too early for BANY to be drawing in all the other IPO attention. The PRs will help alot, and many of the USAI/TMCS and MALL/UBID folks will still be looking for places to put their profits after the run ups today and tomorrow. Looks like TMCS is waiting for just the right time to set the IPO off. Its not uncommon for them to wait until the last hour or so of trading, to concentrate the run up. Most IPOs (from my experience) go between 12-2:00.
