I think it's really interesting that these conspiracy theories are now appearing. The DOJ, the judge, the press, and Microsoft's competitors are all supposedly ganging up on poor Microsoft, keeper of the Grail.

Baloney!

JMHO.

More examples of Microsoft and there use of the word "innovation" to defend all of their actions.

Following a speech in New York for the Manhattan
Institute For Policy Research, Gates once again
questioned the U.S. government's attempt to restrict
innovation.

"We're in a business that is very competitive," Gates
said. "This case seeks to restrict our ability to innovate.
I still feel very confident that our point of view on
innovation will be upheld."

Other synonym's for "innovation" with respect to Microsoft are
"steal", "rip-off", "copy" ... etc. Substitute these words in above paragraph and it best describes how Microsoft stays competitive. They can't compete and win on their own ideas. If Microsoft can't win customers on their own merits, then they are going copy, bundle, and give away for free other competitors ideas so that they can't win either. The rest of the software industry is just one big R&D lab for Microsoft. If it wasn't for the rest of the software industry you would still be trying to juggle TSR's trying to fit that RBASE program in 640K of memory on DOS 98.

Since we are just one big R&D lab for Microsoft the remedies I propose when the DOJ wins case is that 25% of profits be re-invested in the R&D lab i.e. the software industry. After all the record/entertainment industry gets proceeds from each cassette sold due to theory that they are only used for copying. Windows in this case is the cassette.
