Getting the hydrogen is only part of the problem. The generators have to be married to vehicles that have hydrogen storage capability. The vehicles and generators have to be built in huge quantities. A means of getting the Hydrogen to the vehicles must be designed, developed, and put in thousands of places. The public needs an education on the safe handling of hydrogen.
For the larger installations the same problems exist. Not in the same quantities but the size and amounts of hydrogen needed, and the training of personnel to train personnel has to take place.
All in all, even with computers speeding things up, I do not believe 2- 3 years is adequate time. 4-6 years,--- maybe.
Perhaps we have enough domestic oil and gas to tide us over. Perhaps the domestic oil and gas industry can have the Y2K problem solved in time. Then we only have the problems named above plus the development of the reformer.
