<<Of course there is still lots of risk here>>

THERE IS NOT!!! Put on your tin hat, Richard, and get off this thread, you despicable short seller. Maxam Gold is a very, very low risk investment, according to the company's home page:

"While some might characterize a gold stock such as Maxam Gold as a speculative buy, we believe that the company offers strong (potentially explosive) upside potential with very, very little risk. For long-term value investors, a core holding in Maxam Gold is a must; this is the type of investment opportunity that Warren Buffet built Berkshire Hathaway upon!"

Thanks for the explanations, I didn't realize before how easy it would be to avoid chemical patent restrictions. Just another large part of my ignorance of the issues.

If the company has financial constraints, why spend more money on exploration, when they've already defined a highly profitable mine and the only thing apparently holding up production is the financing that can only come from a unchallengeable COC? Is there a time line for the COC?

Thanks, Jon
