That could be a sign of day trading - especially if the traders are going long during the day. They all try and close out before the market closes which means that there's extra supply at the end of the day.

Also, if there is a big seller via RS, then they may "let up" during the day to let the price recover and then sell at the end of the day.

Just guesses, but those are my theories.
