The problem is despite the fact that semis have risen quite a bit from their lows earlier (and which everyone keeps mentioning and advocating as an excellent reason to short the semis), they are still very much below what they were 2 years ago. IMHO, the downtrend cycle is about to end and the next upturn cycle will be much bigger than what we had in 94-96 because of the new internet computing model. Stock prices usually do not reflect the present conditions but rather what would be 6-8 months down the road. Shorting semis at this time is similar, IMHO of course, to trying to stand in front of a train trying to see if the train will stop if it sees you standing there.

Anyway, regretfully I sold my XLNX shares too early but I will be more than lucky if I can buy my shares back under $40 (which I highly doubt would happen unless there is a split).

Regards,

Addi Jamshidi

Lin,

If you do, make sure you short ALTR and go long XLNX. As for me, I'm hoping to get back in below 50, but I seriously doubt we'll see 40 again.
