Corporate payoffs to politicians, like campaign finance (btw, how many Republicans are opposed to campaign-finance reform and how many support it?), is a malady that has to be addressed as a larger issue. Sporadic acts of vindictiveness cannot guarantee that such things won't happen again. Sure, the people are interested if you want to fix things, however they are not interested if you just want to waste their money to settle personal scores.
