What's the point if passing Rube Feingoldberg's magic campaign finance machine when the Supreme Court will certainly knock it down anyway? Why not use it to "send a message"?! At least that is what the racist Pete Wilson and his supporters said when they introduced Prop. 187 in California in 1994, even though they knew that the courts will knock it down anyway! The upshot of which is that the Republicans now have to get rid of their rabid right-wing "fringe" if they ever want to recapture California...
