If you haven't seen Office 2000 then do so. It usually takes Microsoft a few tries to get it right and from what I've seen they have got it right this time. Its web publishing capabilities are greatly improved. But most of all the groupware capabilities are what standout. Finally you will be able to share documents, work on them simultaneously and annote your comments directly in the document. This is what I mean by threaded discussion group encapsulated in the document. You can publish a document for review and have the reviewers annote their comments directly in the document. This is hot at least in the corporate environment. Finally collaboration made easier. Unlike other Microsoft products (i.e. Windows 98 has minimal enhancements compared to Windows 95) this product is a major improvement over Office 97. I just can't imagine an existing Office 97 user not upgrading to this product. For any users that still haven't bought Office then this will be the one. Since they really don't have competition (well maybe Lotus Notes) I expect Microsoft to be able to charge premiums for this product. I believe I heard a Microsoft executive say that Office generated more than 45% of there revenue. I just can't see how this product will not generate truckloads of money for Microsoft. Lotus might have been a competitor before but after this product forget it.

Personally I can't stand Microsoft but they have a definite winner here. Have to give them credit when they deserve it.
