Elwood: Being the brats we were, we would answer questions, about the history of this or that building by telling them, "Oh that one - yes, that's where Julius Ceasar married Cleopatra, right next to where the first fifty Popes are buried, over there". Undeterred they would answer something like, "Did you hear that, Elmer, that's where Elizabeth Taylor got hitched to Richard Burton". One day I was showing a good friend from South Carolina the memorial garden in the ruins of the 14th century abbey attaching to Christ Church College: she was suitably impressed: "It's just like Disneyland!"
