<<But if I regard it as aggressive or disruptive, I should ignore it also?>>

Dan as I've said repeatedly, if you ignore disruptive or aggressive behavior it escalates (gets worse). That is because the goal of disruptive behavior is to disrupt, manipulate, con (you). If it is not working the actor tries harder. The goal of aggressive behavior is to cause discomfort, pain, misery, etcetera (to you).

<<What are the motives behind the behavior anyway?>>

Behavior cannot be labeled in a vacuum. Behavior exists in the context of a situation. This is why I call it a soft science. You (the observer of the behavior) must attribute a cause to the behavior based on your own observation and evaluation of the bahavior in its context. We all do that.

<<What is one supposed to do about that?>>

Ignoring inapropriate behavior allows it to be just that and it ussually stops on its own.

Since disruptive or aggressive behavior wont stop until its motives are satisfied or changed, you have to deal with it. You decide what to do. One observation I have is that you can't change a persons politic when its based on deep seated religious principle through confrontational debate.
