China is certainly not exempt from the Asian meltdown, although they are still exporting a lot of product.

That's because the government desperately needs hard currency. One of the biggest export was clothes, which used to be very hot several years ago. But it is pretty tough, not profitable. Also the electronic business, such TV, stereo system, used to be very, very profitable. Now a lot of factories are on the edge of bankruptcy.
