Regis -- I'm pretty sure that this affects ALL Schwab accounts. I picked up the notice first thing as I logged in to Schwab's Web site yesterday afternoon (and I've been a Schwab customer for about 6 years). You have a point in that it's only LIKELY to affect new investors, in that they may not have any other securities in their accounts to put up as margin collateral. Anyway, it's bound to cause some confusion/selling as folks that don't even know what a margin call is get the phone call from their brokers. BTW -- a bunch of other brokers have already tweaked their margin requirements as well, but Schwab is one of the biggest, so I think it'll have some impact. RK
