Cheeky, With the strange stuff I experienced... try swapping to new memory.

BTW, I've had similar behavior, but always when there was a dialog box hidden behind the front screen which was waiting for me to hit the "OK" button. Try ALT-TAB to switch from task to task and see if you can find a pending response.

I priced an AMD K6-350 with a Matrox 200 8M AGP and a $99 8M PCI 2nd card, 128M 100mz SDRAM, big disk, no monitor, W98, and it was $1350 with tax in CA. Probably $400 more than I'd find with parts, but I'm beginning to see the light: I can take it back for lifetime free labor, including fair market value for old parts when I upgrade. I may just go pay retail for all this stuff. Today, I had to pay $40 for labor for them to find my memory problem because I bought the memory myself. I have already spent 2 1/2 days futzing with it! So much for the extra $400....
