Orwell, I must say one of the more sensible posts I have read today. I find it puzzling how quickly the flavour changes on these threads. It is incredible how much 'investing' (and I use that term very loosely) has changed in the past several years. Where in the world did all these 'traders' come from? Just rhetorical so don't bother. A few words to sooth the savage beast if I may. First of all get yourself an account that does not have margin. The firm I use when I requested that tried to encourage me to get the margin capabilities trying to rationalize it by saying that you do not have to use it but if you ever need it it is there. Now you know why they say that?, and I am sure that if I have heard it there are more out there that have heard it. Well they know that most investors especially today, will lose money on margin and ofcourse they make more. The system is skewed in their favour, very similar to a casino. Secondly try to have a horizan slightly longer than your pinky finger. Geeezz what the hell is wrong with you guys agonizing over a pull back during the span of a week. Are the fundamentals different today than yesterday? has the internet and e-commerce collapsed during the past 48 hours? If you can answer no to these questions then I would not be terribly concerned. Look at what has happened in the last year. What stocks have been the leaders during this time frame? It has been the internet stocks. Most people were negative on them, all the while they were appreciating in value, (that was always comical to read)("god what a terrible stock, no fundamentals, overvalued,----goes up another $10). Then they corrected, massivley. And then all the naysayser, shorters, who by this time had lost considerble amounts of $$ (and this is about as conservative as a statement gets) said foolishly 'see I told you so'. Of course we all know what happened in the last few months, the internet stocks went on to make new highs. Now another correction. You need to ask yourself, has anything changed with the fundamentals of the internet and its potential growth? If you can answer this positively and I can, then I would not be very concerned. This market will continue to grow and the same companies that have led this charge will continue to. The reason being that investors, and analysts alike do not know which of these companies will be successful, therefore they more or less all go for a ride until promise becomes reality or disappointment. The market for e-commerce will increase. Shares of companies involved with e-commerce will increase. But for heavens sake try to look at this with more than a 2 day time frame. Regards
