Admittedly duct tape, in and of itself, is not a substitute for a mouse. However, had you first attached a cats-eye marble to the duct tape, well there you have it...

Maybe not, but the inside of my PC stays a lot cleaner now, since I taped up all those slots and holes on the front and back of my PC.

Duct tape is not a very good substitute for a mouse pad.

You might try it sticky side down. It would work better, I think.
