Here's some news I got from the CBOE; I imagine the entire piece is on the site so I won't reprint the entire thing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CBOE Regulatory Circular #RG98-134 December 3, 1998 Re-Balance of Nasdaq-100(r) Index CBOE has been informed by Nasdaq that following the close of business on December 18, 1998, Nasdaq will change the Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX) to a modified capitalization weighted index (the "New Index"). The Nasdaq will continue to calculate the index using the standard capitalization-weighting methodology (the "Old Index") until March 20, 1999 to facilitate options trading. The "Old Index" will be disseminated by the Nasdaq under the symbol IXO. The "New Index" will be disseminated under the symbol NDX. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This should put a monkey wrench into anyone's Neural Nets that use NDX.

i have a cumulative 25 day a/d sum of 3204 as of close 12/3/98 which is pretty close to yours.

FredE, Just ran your numbers against my cumulative totals all the way back to the 10/08 date you give. The net average difference is +371. I don't think it is a big deal and the one thing I base that on is the fact that on 10/28 yours went negative and so did mine. Your number was -258 and mine -577, but in both cases it reversed the next day. So yes, there are differences and perhaps the +371 will cause one to change direction a day early or prematurely, but it does not appear to me to be a critical issue. -Scott
