DWEB's relationship with SME - DWEB is constructing an Internet based electronic procurement system for SME. The system, EDIxchangeBuy, is designed to plug into SME's existing E-commerce infrastructure (Electronic Data Interchange - EDI) and to extend it's reach to the web. This allows SME's, smaller, less sophisticated suppliers to conduct E-commerce (receive PO's; send invoices and ship notices) using merely a browser and a web connection.

The basic idea here is to automate and tighten up SME's supply chain to improve their performance in areas like: 1) inventory turns; 2) revenue per square foot; and 3) customer satisfaction.

DWEB has a press release on it's web site at:

I liked PAIR last summer when everyone still thought ADSL had a chance of becoming the next big move in the broadband race. But over the year it became apparant that local phone companies would not upgrade all of their switching stations to accomodate ADSL speeds, due mostly to cost.

So that gave cable modem technology a running start on capturing the broadband market. Now, IMO, there is no catching them. Cable modems are in and ADSL is doomed, IMO. Therefore Pair Gain that focuses on copper wire transmission [with great results in limited area], is not as exciting as it used to be.

Who cares if the next great technology warns. But when a potentially 'passed by' technology warns, it spells the kiss of death, IMO.
