By way of background, I'm enthusiastically long ATHM, but as an ATHM customer, I too have been somewhat disappointed. My sense is that, comparing download times of ATHM content vs. regular net content, there is not as much cacheing going on at the headend as I was led to believe. This could be unique to my cable system, but it's still ATHM's domain (no pun intended).

SI servers are over loaded, about 1/4 of the time it runs slow for me and many other members

I changed ISP's and for the past 6 weeks SI has been just fine. I use to have a lot of slow downs and always thought it was SI but I have now concluded I had a bogged down ISP. I'm now getting incredible transfer rates running two ISDN B channels. Close to 1 meg per minute when downloading. No that's not cable but I can't get cable and TCI won't talk about it. Can get DSL but not going to until after I move.
Sure would like to see TCI install cable in my area, I would certainly try it.
