I think that what you saw was Datek's 'uptick rule' filter catching the order before the 'check to see whether the trader owns or does not own the stock' filter kicked in. Sounds typical that Datek would have the filters in the wrong order.....<g>

Datek system does not allow you to have two orders on the same stock at the same time, even if one is sell and the other one is buy, and you have enough buying power. So in your case, the only thing you can do is to cancel the other one FIRST, and put in another order.
