One of the important functions a good Fed analyst
can perform is gauging market expectations and
the probable response to Fed activity/nonactivity.
Jones has been around long enough to be able to
"sample" and survey major customers and meaningful
street opinion to assess the market. Indeed, when the
Fed wants to query the market, David will get a phone
call as will a few others considered knowledgeable by
the NY desk.

As for equity analysts and stock market gurus, they
come and go. The fact that Jones is still plying his
trade is a testament of his value for his customers.
Equity gurus get paid for pushing stock and are laid off
during a downturn if they utter "sell" under the guise of
brokerage downsizing.<small g>

AR, And that is odd considering that the bond market is much larger than the stock market.
