I'm sure you can agree with me that the most important factor driving the stock price of any firm is profit (admittedly, changes in LT interest rates are also very important). If you compare Dell with the oil companies you will find that Dell is far more profitable. Take a look at the following 5-yr graph:

My point is this. You hammered the oil companies for making excess profits. Yet, as you can see from the graph the oil companies compared to Dell are mere pikers when it comes to making money. I haven't seen you utter a peep in protest of Dell. Indeed, you own Dell shares and therefore are personally benefiting from its profit explosion. If the oil companies are guilty of profiteering why isn't Dell guilty too? Aren't you just being hypocritical to criticize the one while owning stock in the other?
