It tends to violate the principles associated with property law, does it not? But it also speaks to franchise privileges and the implications of monopoly powers. Throw in a little public sentiment, and the need for lawyers to make a living, and this is what you get.

What do I make of it? I simply accept it as fact today, until something better comes along.
