Time. Programming is something you do 10 hours a day. You eat it sleep it and breathe it until you have the solution. Marketing and web maintenance is something you do if you are not programming. It is called a separation of labour. You don't have programmer answering the phone and building web pages and dreaming up promotion schemes. Can they do it? Well maybe, but should they? Well no. Is it labour intensive to sell? I should know. It is a full time job. If programmers did it well in their "spare " time they would all be rich now, wouldn't they? But they are all starving and having their programs stolen aren't they? So it ain't that easy is it? Like I said do you know anybody who drives a Mercedez Benz who did it selling shareware? Well? So does it work? So? And how many programmers are working for peanuts for MS because it doesn't? Well?

I still see it as the only way for programmers to make a living. And my plan to give them 70% isn't just generous, its downright philanthropic. If they approach a distributor they won't get ten.

So be it.
