good idea BUT I think the charting program is the one that should address the problem, they can best make changes to their program. For instance, MSWIN keeps other data vendors besides their contractual friends to 255 issues per directory rather than the 2000 allowed by 6.5.

We can loook at the GET model. When they suppose a format, they provide a means of finding all files of that type in total. Seamless one big directory without having to duplicate any files. The data vendor needs to provide his file format, but the one that is to blame is the charting program, they are the ones to fix the problem. So send your cards and letters to the right place, but it won't do much good. Some would rather collect royalites than service customers.

BTW: With the virtual format or direct read which is being provided in more charting programs, QP2 is ready to go in MSWIN right after download. No conversions taking up disk space, no wasted time.
