"However, remember that Cornerstone now comes equipped with its own data ports in the interface unit, negating the need for a separate cable modem if the voice/data configuration of the system is chosen for deployment." DenverTechie, In the interest of just learning some more about companies/products I invest in I have a few questions. I was told (as I believe you have verified above) that a cable modem has to go at each end of a cable modem connection. I'm using one now and it's sitting on my desk. Plus, at the local Time Warner (Roadrunner)headquarters somewhere, there is another I connect to. I believe it goes through a router first, then to a cable modem and off to the Internet. So what you are saying is Cornerstone comes with "built-in" cable modems? Is this what you are saying by a "data port?" And this is not the way Cornerstone is configured if an MSO rolls out, data only services. If the MSO rolls out data only (as Time Warner has done), then the MSO has to go and buy a separate modem for each end? Also, as you probably know, MSOs are excited about getting their customers to run out and purchase their own cable modems (built to the new standard). So this avoids them having to give one away for free to users like me. I believe they are going to cost in the neighborhood of $300 each! So it will be quite a savings to the MSOs as they roll out cable modem service. Now I'm wondering why Northern Telecom didn't want to simply sell the LANcity cable modems directly with their name slapped on them? Any guesses why not? I'm just doing the questioning above, because I am slowing building my position in ANTC and just want to see if I can figure out where they are headed and if it's in the right direction. Thanks, MikeM(From Florida)
