You have one lucky wife she said wiping away the tears! If there were more people like yourself in this world, it would be a better place to live. Your reward will be great.

This not a response to LS' epistle, but rather to Sue Slaine's post some hours ago on the importance of keeping your losses small. The corollary is equally important - keep your gains big. Case in point -

VADT, which I posted here as a volume and price breaker-outer this a.m., along with SEVL. SEVL went nowhere, but VADT started to move so I tried to get in for 3000 at 4 1/16, got filled for 2600. It went to 4 7/16 ( I think), stalled, and started flirting with 4 3/16 again (please don't hold me to these exact numbers, I'm not looking at time and sales #'s). Anyway, when it recovered a bit I did a big PHEW and bailed at 4 5/16, nice little profit. If you look at its chart, it touched 6, and closed around 5.

Leaving that much money on the table is as much a loss as not closing out a losing trade.

I'm not saying I would have spotted the top at 6. I am saying that fear gripped me at the retreat from 4 7/16, and I bailed at the first opportunity. And lost as a result. An exit at 5 really was there for the taking. Roughly $1500.

BTW, I'm not one of those who think MM's routinely manipulate stocks, but VADT's rise from 4 1/2 to 6 and back down to below 5 in the space of 15 minutes around 3p.m. was remarkable, to say the least. Take a look at the one minute chart. Nice way to make money.

LastShadow,

Last time I brought a stock to your attention, you called it well. I wonder if I can bring another to the thread:

SNRS - Sunrise Technology has just hit the top ten most advanced for the NASDAQ on friday, and did 5x's the normal volume. It seems that a big position is being taken. I have followed this stock since the summer where it lagged since the summer correction, and it seems it is breaking out. Since it did not gap up, but surged after noon, I wonder if this is the start of the climb from 4 to 14, or higher.

Background: They are awaiting PMA for a laser eye surgery that is rumored to kick butt; safer than current technology, something like 20x's the market share of VISX, and cheaper for both patient and doctors. Many investors are Doc's, which adds to the company's credibility. Sorry to give so much detail, but whatever you can suggest on how you would play it would be appreciated.
