I prefer to call anti-welfare as pro-choice. Some people choose to fail and some people choose to succeed. And then some choose to use the government. I used to work for a government client whose son-in-law made a living off of phony workmen's comp claims and insurance fraud. More often than not, it's personal emotional misconduct rather than technical skills through which people fail. Most anyone with motivation can learn a new skill. Not everyone can show up to work on time, keep his superiors informed on work, keep from boozing or drugging or carousing at work, and myriad other little things.

It's ludricrous when businesses are begging for workers that Clinton is lauding the Earned Income Tax Credit crap and still looking for ways to work around Welfare Reform. I used to work on my last project with one of the clowns that used to collect EITC on his taxes. He did nothing on the job. When he would screw up, which was just about every time, his government managers would just hand the work over to me or to other consultants to redo it. From what I heard, he had been doing this for over 10 years without getting fired. The managers were a trip also. One of them used to assign two or three of the consultants to do her graduate school projects for her from time to time.
