Sorry, futurist. Looks as though Fords will be using the Matsuchita batteries.
The good news however is that I drove the 99' EV1 with NiMH batteries today and after waiting impatiently for such a long time, I can tell you it felt glorious.
I should have the 99'EV1 with NiMH batteries for a two or three day test very soon and I'll give a detailed report. Todays introduction of the battery and 'ride and drive' event was very positive and encouraging. The Brand manager for all GM advanced fuel vehicles spoke of a HUGE change of heart at GM with instructions to put greater emphasis on EVs as against future hybrid and fuel cell technologies. Could it be their taking their clue from the new chairman at Ford who appears to be taking EVs very seriously? At any rate their appears to be a new breeze in the EV world.
