Pastric; Re I think that what you are saying is that the buck's price has to be taken in a perspective relative to global economies.
Yes that's about it , to see the longer term trend
But I don't think I would use the term Marco approach on it.,

I'm not sophisticated or well heeled enough to trade on it,
in fact the run up in Japan's Stocks , in respect to US$ caught
me by surprise, but at least I noticed it, where the news media
seems to be ignoring it, & even playing Japan down, when it fact
their market has out run our market big time in the last two
months. ( relative to dollars )

If Greenspam does cut interest rates more, as many say he will then
we might get more of this.

A simple way to keep one eye on it is to watch the WEBS, that trade
on the AMEX, and compare the SPY chart with charts of the
Global bench mark shares that trade in dollars, using the
WEBs as an index instead of the local one.
I do this via a Yahoo portfolio

Note Today Global was up 3.65% while the spy ( S&P500) was up 2.63%
also note KEF is not a web, there isn't one for Korea so I put in a
closed end fund that only trades Korea stocks.

Foot note, on the right side gain is from the time I set them up
back in ( DEC 10th of 97,) I may should re-weight them. Just the same
you can see Italy, Austria, & Spain have been on a good run since
last Dec..But it don't show the more recent change in trends,
you need to chart them for that. When I bring up the portfolio
in yahoo I add an &d=1ys after the string, then hit return again
and that produces a 1 year chart for each with the S&P500 also
on it; or a &d=3ms does a three month chart, which by the way
shows Hong Kong, and Singapore with even better recent gains than
Japan. ( compared to the S&P ) EWS has in the last 3 months
out run the S&P by 100%
