Elmer,

Re: "You (Maxwell) promised proof at the MPF and more at Comdex ... You
are all mouth and no proof."

Elmer, I think Maxwell posted that AMD would demo the K7 at COMDEX at
700mhz and 1.5V ... You are correct to point out this never happened.

Elmer:

<<Max, I'm not pissed because, unlike you, I know the difference between foils and a manufacturable product. Despite your hype, there is no data whatsoever regarding K7 performance. You seem to think you can plug foils into a processor socket and have a successful product. It just doesn't work that way. It has to be manufacturable. Despite
your mouth, there is no reason to believe the K7 will live up to your hype. You did claim the K7 would be the fastest in the world. You promised proof at the MPF and more at Comdex. All we saw was a Godzilla movie that a CeleronA can do. Big deal.... You are all mouth and no proof. >>

There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between foils and engineering sample. It ain't the same like you suggested. Do you undestand the design cycle of a CPU? Let me give you a brief intro.

1) Preliminary Phase (Outlining the desired functions of a CPU)-
---Time= Up to 1 year or longer

2) Design cycle/Foils
---Time= 1-3 years

3) Layout
---Time= 6 months

4) First Silicon
---Time= 2 months

5) Testing Phase/Bug Revision/2nd/3rd silicon
---Time= 3 to 6 months

6) Engineering Samples/Testing/Demo
---Time= 2 months

7) Final silicon/Testing
---Time= 2 months

8) Ramp/volume production
---Time= 2 to 3 months

K7 is in the 6th-7th stage. Merced is in the 2nd-3rd stage. Willamette is in the 1st-2nd phase.

Why should AMD publish the K7 benchmark? What does it have to gain?
Your approval? AMD doesn't need your approval. This is a game of high stake. Benchmark should be closely guarded secret till the day of launch. Only a fool go around showing people benchmarking results. People on this thread who believed that the K7 is dynamite and bought the stocks are currently well rewarded and they will be handsomely rewarded when the K7 launches. Blind fools like you who don't even ask "WHAT IF?" miss the big ride.
