Works for me. What a great thread!

Point and Figure works great in a market of stocks. That is why the screening function is important.

In a stock market, the NYSE Bullish Percent is always accurate. But not as a day trading tool due to its lag. A true P&Fer would use stops and price objective (PO) to enter and exit a position. By not being greedy you should be able to enter and exit a trade with out the need of a leading indicator.
Here is an example from todays posts regarding Basic P&F rules:

Takes discipline however. As I have only been studying P&F for about six months I still have difficulty establishing the PO ' by the book'. And exercising the discipline to enter and exit requires patience.
As a self taught investor who studied for 3 years before jumping in, Point and Figure has proven to me it is invaluable. My best results have come about as the result of 'position trading' based on P&F. Day trading requires different TA.

I should qualify my comments on it not being a leading indicator. The P&F thread was calling for a reversal in May, two months before the top at the end of July, as a result of the change in the NYSEBullish% and went on the defensive. Likewise, as a result of a reversal of the NYSEBullish%, went back on the offensive in September, well before the recovery. A person who had the skill and discipline would have done very well.
Right now the NYSEBullish% is in Bull Confirmed mode. That is good enough for me.

But don't take my word for it. The P&F thread was previously one of the the most Voluminous thread on SI. I Think it has now been surpassed by MDA.
