Forgive my scepticism but i think the the y2k problem will ultimately proved to be yet another overhyped storyline ,business has been aware for a long time about it and i am confident solutions will be in place ,the only area where i think there will likely be poor preparation will be in areas not driven by the profit motive ,the irs or the air traffic system come immediately to mind.
remember a few years ago how all the pundits were predicting that the world would be taken over by japan and the asian tigers .with more bearing on epic the pundits not even 6 months ago were predicting the the price drop in oil was just temporary and it would soon recover now the pundits are saying that it will be 5 years or more before oil creeps back above 20 dollars a barrel.north america is currently awash in oil and natural gas and im sure right now its much cheaper for a company with cash to buy up companies with proven reserves but no money than to bother with something like epic which has nothing proven .this is already happening in the oil patch with the recent merger of ocean energy and seagull.
the internet boosters of epic are subtly preparing the ground for a change in story from epic being a coal gas exploration company to a gas storage company .its amazing how these juniors keep trying to reinvent themselves from gold to silver to whatever commodity is in demand of which there are precious few right now.

i am gradually and painfully getting out of all these small oil,gas and natural resource companies it really is a mugs game with very little profit for the avaerage joe and usually big losses.
there was an interesting story in the wall street journal this week which basically is about a new group of suckers being taken for a ride. the story was about the internet stocks and all the small investors leaping in for apparently quick profits, the silicon investor web site for internet was mentioned.i suspect that a lot of hypsters have moved to greener pastures now from the natural resource segment of si to internet section .a whole new a giant set of suckers are all being set up for a big fall.i wonder if the hypsters on this section are using there same code words over there but suspect they have metamorphosed to a different sign on name.
i see that silicon investor is now advertising pizza and other things ,it cant be too long before the silicon investor web site is taken public ,it must be worth a few hundred million in the current market ,somehow i dont think ill be buying unless long term participants can get it at the ipo price .somehow i doubt it.fortunately i only put a small proportion of assets into this segment though it became a more than play money .who would have belived 5 years ago when hiliary care was all the rage and the pundits were predicting the demise of the big pharmacautical companies and merck was at 30$ that 5 years later it stands at almost 160$ ,so merck is a 5 bagger and virtually every stock on this web site has been a reverse 5-10 bagger including of course epic/ safari.arh
