marvin,

A post over on Yahoo got me to thinking. We know that Ascom has posted their intention of selling some of their shares. You keep saying you don't like what they are doing and assume this is bad news. Well, maybe yes and maybe no; it all depends on what they intend to do with the money. Is it possible they will use the proceeds in some way to further invest in IDX? like smartcards or integrating IDX's technology into telephones or who knows what else? I'm not a businessman or a banker or anything like that so I might be way off base but what do you think? What are the possiblities?

Rick

Ron,

Sure.....Whenever private individuals own a company..."not for sale" is a foolish statement. Listening does not cost a dime.

Printrak also went private from La Rue many moons ago.....Then went public. (CEO made a killing....Rolls Royce in Aspen...just watching the ticker type of bucks) La Rue is still in the business in Europe....but felt that the law enforcement live scan end in the US would be better handled by letting it go.

The Harris deal could be similar to the Lucent spin-off of Veridicom. Same questions could be asked...."why did they do that?"

I think it is because smaller is better in some cases......and getting away from the "mother company" can be good long term.......Much like the benefits for everyone when my 19 year old finally gets an apartment with some buddies.......He gets to learn how to cook and clean up after himself....I get the third stall of the garage. It is a win-win situation.

I think AuthenTec is another source for chips....and that they would love to discuss a relationship with IDX.....IDX has the customer base....and relationships.....and the sales force.

ps. The new guy this weekend really needs to check out Spacial Proctological Authentication Methods, INC.......ticker symbol "SPAM"...I hear that their sensor can fit in the tightest of openings.....and is more sensitive than the tip of your.....ah.....never mind.
