IFCI Recommendation IFCI mentioned in INVESTools email newsletter: The INVESTools Advisory, November 30 - December 4, 1998 A Free Digest Of Trusted Investment Advice 7. Stock Selections for the New Market (CMB) Tuesday, December 1, 1998 Small-cap advisor Richard Geist has long argued that the market theater has changed. Namely, he says inflation is an illusory phenomenon, we are slowly shifting to a growth economy, technology will remain a leader in that economy for decades to come, investors are more educated, and individual investors will not abandon the market during difficult times. We'll still see market and business cycles and relative periods of inflation and deflation, "but the psychology and the economy is indeed changing," he says, adding that technology is a major force driving these changes. "What does all of this mean for your activities in the market?" Geist asks. He advises investors to be selective in buying and not to chase stocks that have run up in value. He also advises using stop losses or mental stops for all but core holdings in case of a major downdraft. Sharp pullbacks should be seen as a buying opportunity, and he advises holding cash in anticipation. With this in mind, Geist's favorite picks include the following large caps: Chase Manhattan (CMB), Williams (WMB), Applied Materials (AMAT). Also, he recommends the following small caps: Automobile Protection Corp. (APCO), NTS Computer Services (NTS), The Credit Store (PLCR), Wet Seal (WTSLA), International Fibercom (IFCI), Pico Holdings (PICO), Teletech (TTEC), Ben Ezra Weinstein (BNEZ), Nam Tai (NTAIF), Decora Industries (DECO), American Bio Medica (AMBC), Modacad (MODA) and Zi Corp (ZICAF).
