NOVEMBER 27 ~ "The cumulative new cash flowing into equity mutual funds since January 1, 1991, is $1.1 trillion. The cumulative increase in stock-market capitalization is $8 trillion. The difference, roughly $7 trillion -- or 86% of the increase -- reveals how much of this bull market's runup over the past eight years has NOT come from Baby Boomers'] mutual-fund inflows. It comes from rising expectations and overvaluations. Mutual-fund inflows didn't fuel the majority of the bull market's gains, and they won't prevent an unwinding. We could say that 1,000 times. We could reprint all the supporting evidence of the 1960s. But that won't be understood or believed until after the next bear market."
