Wolf2, JD does preach buying on dips regularly after his initial buy recommendation. Maybe he has issued an initial buy recommendation with a buy on dips proviso, but I don't remember any. In the case I cited, I unfortunately bought on the initial recommendation.

I certainly don't disagree that we are all ultimately responsible for our decisions to follow or not follow advice.

In my thinking, I don't think that JD just owes me $190 of advice. I think he owes all his subscribers, 80,000 or however many of us there are, advice in line with the millions that are paid for his newsletter.

I don't expect him to be perfect, but in the past year or so, he seems to have slipped, and the Hulbert figures bear that out. Maybe he is just having an off year or two, and will come back strong. I hope so!!!

You have the right attitude about JD. Because he is generally optimistic, I give weight to his negative comments. If one reads him carefully, they are there. What I really enjoy is his global news and perspective. As for his specific picks, I tend to shy away from those with high PE ratios. But then, maybe I don't understand PE ratios well enough.
