Stephen - easy to say - but some people want to teach and are wonderful teachers. It seems we want it both ways - we want our kids to have good education but are often completely unprepared as parents - expecting the teachers to do things which parents should do. There is a village near here with a lot of stay at home mums - hardly any of them will lift a finger to volunteer with extra-curricular help. In many places the teachers are working in a jungle, often in physical danger from kids. They should be geting danger money not brickbats!. Teachers here haven't had a raise or a contract for 6 years - the doctors wouldn't, and didn't put up with it. My answer to the people who bitch about the teachers is 'try it for a day' - half an hour might be enough for most. E
