Thanks for more or less confirming my 'tax instincts'. Better to bounce it off someone like you than make assumptions though!!

So far as MB handling this:

- yes, you do receive confirms from Terra Nova, not MB. They tend to arrive anywhere from 4 to 10 trading days after a trade (I'm in California - actual mileage may vary depending on where you live). Best to review, maybe even print out, the details available on MB's web site if you're concerned about maintaining documentation. They're found via the Account Administration link. Since I began about 5 mos. ago, I've only not received 1 confirm. Actually, I received it but they doubled everything on it (although my account balances don't reflect the doubling) and aren't inclined to send a corrective confirm.

- the commission reductions are issued as credits a few days into the subsequent month i.e. November's credits should now be posted or will be any day now - haven't checked yet.

- the data fee is charged anywhere from the 1st through the 3rd week of the subsequent month i.e. November's data fee will be charged this week or sometime in the next 2 (your deposit is applied to your last month I believe).

I'd be curious to hear any comments you might have after you receive your monthly statement after your 1st month of active trading. The most confusing account statement I've ever run across. I can't tie anything on it to anything external to it. Fortunately, the stuff on MB's web site ties 'closely enough' that I know what's going on. 'Closely enough' = within pennies.
