Hi Kathy: Welcome aboard the Titanic, er I mean to the thread. I don't know how many times CPQ has split or even where to find out such info. The last time was on 1/21/98 - price was 59-1/2. I don't know what the price was when the split was announced - a lot higher than that. You'd better hope they don't announce a split anywhere in the near future or you'll sure feel like you're on the Titanic!

I can tell you a little about the splits. So far there have been 4 splits since CPQ went public, 2:1, 3:1, 2.5:1, and 2:1. I would have to do a lot of digging to give you the prices and exact dates, but the 3:1 took place when CPQ was around 120. I remember because I was out of the country when it happened, had not seen a financial newspaper (3 months), and was horrified when I got back and saw what CPQ was going for--until I was informed it had split.

Katherine,

The stock has split MANY times. The last time the stock split, it was announced in January of 98. The price at the time of the announcement, which coincided with 4Q97 earnings announcements, the stock was in the 70's. By the time the stock actually split I think it was in the 50's. That was the time of the infamous channel stuffing incindent.

CPQ has broken the trading range that it has been mired in for the past year, upside potential, who knows, maybe 60. I wouldn't expect a split till it at least passes that number.

KATHERINE: Welcome! EP the CEO made the comment that he likes to see the stock around 35. I wouldn't look for a split until it spends some time north of 70(IMO)
