Don't buy Win98, it will run VERY VERY slow, buy Win 95, there is a back-up program built in.

You could always buy a ZIP drive, it comes with back-up software too.

JW, you need to give a little more information. It sounds like
you want to back up stuff before you install Win95. Why?
I don't think the Win95 installation will destroy any files
that are already on your hard disk.

It would also help to know how many MB you need to back up.
If it is less than 10MB, you can put the stuff on the
Netscape site for free.
