Remedy(R) Corp. and Ostream(TM) Software, Inc. Team to Simplify AR System(TM) Changes Throughout the Enterprise
Enhanced Ostream Migrator Available Directly from Remedy
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and RENTON, Wa., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Remedy Corporation (Nasdaq: RMDY - news), the leading provider of adaptable enterprise applications, and Ostream Software, Inc., a leading provider of software solutions based on the Remedy AR System, today announced a joint distribution agreement that allows customers to buy Ostream Migrator directly from Remedy and its worldwide network of channel partners. The agreement makes it easier for Remedy AR System customers to implement migration changes throughout the enterprise. In addition, the two companies developed a new release of the Ostream Migrator product, version 1.5, to provide enhanced functionality and tighter integration between the two products.
Ostream Migrator, a robust tool for the synchronization of Remedy AR System production and development environments, allows administrators to transfer application changes quickly and easily from server to server, file to server, or server to file. For example, administrators can transfer changes from their development environment to a migration file and then schedule an automatic transfer to any number of production or quality assurance servers for upgrades -- regardless of the hardware platforms or databases in use. Administrators can specify whether to transfer complete workflow or only selected objects such as schemas, active links, filters, escalations or menus. Ostream Migrator integrates seamlessly with Remedy so administrators can immediately be more productive.
''Our customers will appreciate the capabilities provided by this solution as they expand their use of the AR System,'' said Matt Miller, vice president of marketing and general manager of Remedy's help desk business unit. ''Remedy realizes the important role partners like Ostream play in providing products that make AR System easier and more cost-effective to use. Now it's even easier for our enterprise customers to acquire this best of breed product to complement their AR System solutions.''
Ostream Migrator version 1.5 incorporates new developments by the two companies to ensure seamless operation with the AR System. The new features allow users to easily migrate and schedule migrations. Transferring items from source server to destination server can be done with simple drag-and- drop, and backup can be performed for items that will be transferred on the destination server. Customers can also turn the Admin mode on and off on the destination server, edit scheduler files from within Ostream Migrator and review or modify existing scheduler files. The licensing ''per server'' is simplified to follow Remedy licensing conventions.
''Ostream Migrator makes it easy for Remedy customers to keep development and production applications in synch and migrate any changes across servers,'' said Gary Sherrell, Ostream president and CEO. ''Customers find this an ideal way to create a hot backup for their production server, too. We're pleased to make the workflow migration capabilities of Ostream Migrator more easily available to customers through the strong Remedy distribution channel.''
