How do large companies like Pepsi, Cadbury Schwepps, Campbells, Ocean Spray etc. increase the bottom line to please shareholders and remain competitive? The largest expense on the income statement is cost of goods sold. Slashing that line provides for higher profit margins. Look closely at the Brain Forest pouch in the following link keeping in mind how simple it looks. In general...A puncture resistant material formed and heat sealed with a proprietary sealant containing a built in, no spill straw system. Also from the CEO in an Aug 98 PR: "It is a rare opportunity to find a fresh new consumer product in a billion dollar industry that not only competes but beats the brand leader in packaging, price to the consumer and profit margin for the store."
