John: I think there was an article about that in IBD the last few days. I will find it and post tomorrow.

Dell would be insane to try and build an enterprise storage capability from the ground up - they are not even on the map in that business. There have been several good posts here on that in the last day or so. They could do it by acquiring DG or maybe just Clariion if DG would sell it, but that would be a complete departure from their current business model and would still not guarantee that they would be a player. I have to assume that they are just making the right noises and have no intention of doing anything real in enterprise storage. I would be very concerned if Dell thought that was a good capital investment in comparison to other places they could spend money. Their play is in small-midrange and they can make an OEM deal with Clariion work there.

John: Found the IBD article on Dell getting into the storage area. It didn't say anything except that they were looking to get into the storage business. Must have been part of the "one Dell article a day keeps Compaq away" campaign.
