"celeron doesn't come with the cache."

i believe that this is incorrect, skeeter.

the first celerons lacked L2 cache, but in august 1998 intel released two new celeron chips with 128 kb of L2 cache. they are the 300A mhz (the A separates this new celeron chip from the original) and the 333 mhz.

keep in mind that even with the new celeron L2 cache, they still only have less than half the 512kb of cache found on the pentium ll.

the new celeron is receiving rave reviews across the board, according to december's smart computing magazine. a gateway marketing manager is quoted as saying that although they originally passed on the celeron because it wasn't seen as a good value for clients, the performance of the new celeron versus the pentium ll has been within a few percentage points in their internal benchmarks. evidently ibm, micron and gateway all say customers are pleased and that the celeron is expanding into corporate platforms.

hope this helps.
