Jeer,

>> my bet on Y2K is that the concern will fade <<

On Jan 1, 2000, when traffic lights, elevators and many other systems which operate on date-dependent algorithms, fail to work properly, the concern will do anything but fade !

What insurance company will insure flights during the week preceding and following the New Year ? Air travel, boat travel will come to a complete halt for 2 weeks.

What nuclear power plant will risk being online over the New Year ? Better buy a generator.

Even if the problem is minor or non-existent, people will prepare for the possibility. People will hoard food and other supplies in case they made need them. They will move to cash and probably buy gold.

It will be a crazy 3 or 4 months... and of course, think about the impact to corporate profits....

Regards,
Chris

I believe we will see s definite resurgence in the leading Y2K companies in coming months. Their revenues will be shooting up and the best ones will build on this to become formidable software/service organizations on down the road. Some will continue major work in currency conversions..a major new growth area. Just ask any banker in Europe...
