X, I like your vision. It captures the hurly-burly of real markets, better than the sterile, intellectual version. (Sort of like that truly dark First Union commercial? The one about "the mountain"? Boy, is that creepy.)

It is probably so self-evident that it isn't worth saying, but the belief that eventually the market will regress to the mean ipso facto assumes that there is a mean.
