RE: If they had a few nukes (which they don't) and they wanted to use them, do you really think
they'd make taking out US satellites a high priority?
The North Koreans don't even have a launch vehicle capable of putting a payload in orbit, in
any case.

If the only reason these radiation proof chips are useful is in the context of EMP loss
protection, then I guarantee you they won't make Intel much money. On the other hand, if
they lower satellite loss rates due to solar flares, etc., maybe they are worthwhile. But the
article didn't say anything about that, did it?

Re: "the U.S. military is pretty good "

Really? Wonder what gives you that idea. <gg>

I think you really underestimate those people. How do you know they don't have nukes or the technology?? The north koreans are in economic crisis...they nothing to lose by starting a war right now...the news report makes them sound pretty irrational (which I think they are and always were). taking out satellites with small nukes is not a bad idea...it would wipe out defense systems and some navigational systems.

As for the U.S. military, its the only dept. thats ever been pretty good (relative to other areas)...granted the U.S. gov't et al are a bunch of fools, but I think we have managed to keep all the wars on foreign soil for all these years...the last time anyone got bloody here was a civil affair (the LA riots). the gov't done pretty well in that regard...we definitely don't live like those people in Saudi Arabia, ireland, or some parts of asia where everyone is in constant fear of being bombed.

as for radiation proof chips, I think the author of the article probably didn't do his/her homework and didn't care to write a long extensive articles on the cost benefits and other benefits of the technology with regards to solar flares, cosmic radiation, etc. (who cares??? NASA+Lockheed Martin already spends $10000000000000000000 on this crap)

but anyways, this an AMD thread, and I have no comments that I can make here because it may violate my Terms of Use techstocks.com
